Budget 4K Action Camera - Akaso EK7000 / Muson MC2

Akaso EK7000 - What’s in the Video?

This is an unboxing, review and a daytime and nighttime test of the Muson MC2 budget 4K action camera. Is this a worthy competitor to GoPro or should you spend more and stick with the market leader?

Update 2020: The Muson MC2 is no longer available by that name. The Akaso EK7000 is basically the same thing re-badged.

What’s in the Video

The video includes the following sections.

1. Product unboxing

2. Run through the menus

3. Demo of the mobile app

4. Daytime test footage

5. Nighttime test footage

6. Review and summary

I'm not pixel peeping in this review. It's about whether the camera produces usable footage suitable for your needs. If you're on a budget, need a multi-camera setup, backup camera or simply don't want to pay GoPro £500 for their latest action camera offering, the Muson MC2 / Akaso EK7000 may well be a camera to consider. Let's be honest, you could buy 8 of these for the price of a GoPro 8.

Below are links to 2 clips taken on this camera and one video using the night clip together with in car audio I recorded while doing the journey. This basically offers a rather dull tour of Bristol at night. I'm not a tour guide so can only really comment on the things that matter to me as a driver and rider.

The files are zip files to make downloading simpler (they won’t open in the browser). The original video files are within the archives.
